About Gayle Raphanel

I graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1978 and moved to British Columbia in 1979, after completing a year of articles in Toronto. I re-articled in British Columbia in 1980 and was called to the BC Bar in January 1981.

I opened my sole practice the day I was called to the Bar and have been self-employed ever since. Although I’ve worked with associate lawyers over the years, at this point I find solo practice efficient and cost-effective, and I am pleased to pass those efficiencies on to my clients.

I provide “cradle-to-grave” legal services with a focus on family law. My work encompasses adoptions and surrogacy contracts, marriage and cohabitation agreements, the full range of issues arising on separation, estate planning (including planning for potential incapacity), and estate administration.

In 1984 I took the first mediation training in British Columbia and became a Family Law Mediator. I have had an active family mediation practice since then and mediation now comprises two-thirds of my work. I also practice family law collaboratively, whenever possible. I am also qualified to conduct Hear the Child interviews.

I love living in Vancouver and run with my dogs in Pacific Spirit Park every day.
